Nick and Sandy – Dominican Republic Destination Wedding

Last week I spent almost a week in the Dominican Republic for my dear friends Nick and Sandy’s destination wedding!!! It was such an amazing week and their wedding day was so beautiful and intimate! After a very busy year of shooting 45 weddings and many other shoots, this was the perfect way to end off my wedding season this year!! I got to enjoy some time in the sun and shoot somewhere totally new and gorgeous with the sweetest couple!!!

Sandy and I have been friends for a few years, ever since we met as co-workers – a few months later I found out she was dating my relative, Nick! We have stayed in touch even after both leaving that job at different times, and I am so thankful for her beautiful friendship and character in my life! I am so glad that it worked out for me to come and shoot their wedding for them!

The actual wedding day was hot hot HOT! These two, and honestly, their whole bridal party, were total troopers taking photos before the ceremony out in that hot sun in their wedding clothes!!! Thankfully they all dressed as cool as possible – with the guys in khaki shorts and short sleeve button up shirts, and the ladies had fairly cool, breathable dresses as well with fans in place of bouquets! The fans were so fun to take photos with instead of the usual bouquets, I am so happy with how the photos turned out!

I was struggling by the time the ceremony got around, definitely had some heat stroke as I had chills, felt faint, and  a bit nauseous. I sat down for ten minutes, drank like four bottles of water, had the bridesmaids fanning me, and felt a bit better after that so I could push through to take the family photos and get some breath taking sunset bridal photos!!!  There was about 30 guests, family and friends included. It was a really nice, intimate and small wedding with the reception held at the beach restaurant. The food was pretty amazing, and everyone is just so friendly there!

I also did a little sunrise photo session with Nick and Sandy our last full day there, just in normal clothes – where we could be a little more adventurous and explore and have fun – I am so excited to edit those and share them as well!!

I hope I get the opportunity to do this again someday! Wishing you all the best in your life together, and I hope to continue to walk alongside you guys in your new married adventure! I hope you love your photos and can cherish them for a long time! <3

Enjoy some of my favourites from this beautiful destination wedding in the Dominican!!
